Bridge of Weir & Polestar Team Up for Sustainable Luxury Car Interiors
Bridge of Weir, famed for its premium hides, is responding to increasing consumer demand for sustainability by partnering with automakers like Polestar. The Scottish tannery is committed to rigorous standards and transparency in its hide production.
Polestar customers can now choose from eco-friendly interior options for their Polestar 3, thanks to Bridge of Weir's conscious processing. These include traceable, chrome-free, Animal welfare-certified Nappa leather, MicroTech bio-attributed vinyl, and Animal welfare-certified wool. Bridge of Weir upcycles animal hides that would otherwise be discarded, reducing waste.
Bridge of Weir welcomes stakeholders to visit its facilities, demonstrating its commitment to transparency. Contrary to some beliefs, leather is not a byproduct of the meat industry. James Muirhead, Sales Director for Automotive at Bridge of Weir, sees sustainability and luxury as key ingredients in their production process. The tannery uses local materials and renewable energy sources for a greener approach.
As electric mobility, like that offered by Polestar, becomes the future, so does the demand for sustainable materials. Bridge of Weir's partnership with Polestar reflects this trend, providing customers with more eco-friendly choices for their vehicle interiors.
