Boston University Earns the First Spot on LinkedIn's "Leading Universities" for Delivering Career-oriented Education to Students
In the heart of Boston, a new book is making waves, offering a unique and intimate portrayal of the city and its residents. "The Bostonians: Portraits from the Heart of the City," a collaboration between senior writer Rich Barlow and photographer Cydney Scott, has been met with praise for its authentic and diverse representation of the city.
Rich Barlow, a seasoned journalist with 20 years of experience as a small-town newspaper reporter, now serves as a senior writer at BU Today and Bostonia magazine, which are affiliated with Boston University. He contributes to articles and interviews on various topics, including career development and social issues. Prior to his role at BU, Barlow was a former occasional op-ed contributor for the Boston Globe, a book reviewer, and a religion columnist.
Cydney Scott, the photographer behind the book's captivating images, has a rich background in journalism as well. She began her career as a newspaper photographer in upstate New York, before moving to Palm Beach County, Florida, where she spent another decade shooting for newspapers. Upon returning to Boston, Scott joined BU Photography and has been a professional photographer since graduating from the Ohio University VisCom program in 1999.
"The Bostonians" is a testament to the duo's shared passion for storytelling. The book features Scott's evocative photographs and Barlow's insightful essays, weaving together a tapestry of portraits and stories that encapsulate the spirit and diversity of Boston.
The book was launched with an exhibition at the BU Art Gallery and is now available for purchase at the BU Bookstore and online. Rich Barlow and Cydney Scott have also announced that they will donate a portion of the book's proceeds to local charities in Boston.
With its compelling portrayal of the city and its residents, "The Bostonians: Portraits from the Heart of the City" is a must-read for anyone with a love for Boston or a keen interest in the city's vibrant culture.
