Bengal Math Team Championship 2025 Honors Professor Islam, Prepares Students for Thailand

The Bengal Math Team Championship 2025 concluded at Southeast University on 26 September, with over 600 students participating. The event, themed 'Mathematics is a Joy', honoured Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam's academic legacy and looked ahead to the 2025 World Mathematics Team Championship in Thailand.

The closing ceremony featured a video tribute to Professor Islam, highlighting his significant academic contributions. Eminent mathematician Mohammad Kaikobad attended as the special guest, stressing the importance of mathematics education.

The junior team 'Sigma Cube' received the 'Jamal Nazrul Islam Memorial Award for Best Team of BMTC 2025'. Winners from BMTC 2025 will vie for spots to represent Bangladesh in Thailand. Dr K. M. Kabirul Islam, former Senior Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Board, pledged support for future competitions and student development.

In the team round, 7 teams won in the junior category, 11 in intermediate, and 4 in advanced. A total of 150 students received merit awards, with 135 students recognised across the three categories. The final team selected for Thailand comprised Fahim Ahmed, Nabila Islam, Rafiq Hasan, and Shirin Akter.

The Bengal Math Team Championship 2025 celebrated mathematics and academic excellence. It not only honoured Professor Islam's legacy but also prepared students for the international stage. The event's success bodes well for Bangladesh's participation in the 2025 World Mathematics Team Championship in Thailand.
