The 29th annual Dr. Doris A. Howell Leadership Awards ceremony took place on April 10, 2024, recognising outstanding leadership and service among students, faculty, and community members.

The awards, named after Dr. Doris Howell, a 1944 Park graduate who was an internationally renowned leader in pediatrics and hospice care, are given by the Office of Student Life and the Park Student Government Association.

This year, several individuals and groups were honoured for their exceptional contributions.

In the student category, Austin Dubberley and Zachary Knowles received the C.W. Bailey Award. Lauren Buck and Marissa Wortkoetter were recognised as the Outstanding Class Members for the sophomore class. Bilemanga (Sarah) Fataki received the Toni Griggs Award, while Elizabeth (Weese) Muncal was awarded the Tipton Award. Isabella Clark and Neyamia Powell were the Outstanding Class Members for the senior class.

Grace Wahab, a junior management major from Fort Leavenworth, Kan., was named the Student Employee of the Year, working in the Park Global Warrior Center.

The Student Organization of the Year Award was given to The Stylus, Park University's online student newspaper. Phi Epsilon Kappa, a new student organisation promoting the interests of Park University's sport and exercise science programs, received the New Student Organization of the Year Award.

Isabella Brooks, a sophomore biology major, was awarded the Park Student Government Association / Cindy Anderson Senator of the Year Award.

In the faculty category, Melody Alexander, adjunct instructor of communication studies and adviser to The Stylus, was the recipient of the Student Success and Impact Award. Stacey Kikendall, Ph.D., associate professor of English, was honoured with the Student Organization Adviser of the Year Award, advising Park University's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta (International English Honor Society). Miranda Ridder, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor of biology, received the Faculty Newcomer of the Year Award.

The Staff Newcomer of the Year Award was presented to Alyssa Acuna, associate director of student engagement and inclusion. Ali Haider Sian, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Science degree in information systems and business analytics, was the recipient of the Graduate Assistant of the Year Award, working in the Office of Residence Life.

Eugene Matthews, Ph.D., received the Park Family Award. Jack MacLennan, Ph.D., was the recipient of the Dusing-Proudfoot Award. Jayme Uden, Ed.D., chief human resources officer, received the Special Award - Honors in Student Advising, for her unwavering dedication and commitment to the student body, guiding and shaping the Park Student Government Association, and fostering a thriving environment where students are empowered to enact positive change and cultivate a true sense of community.

Debora Bernardi, Iva Drobnjak, Jade Galligo, Zach Porter, Patrick Robichaud, Gabrielle de Oliveira Sandins, Suzanne Schmidt, Joazee Smith, Patricia Carrio Ubeda, and Elijah Wilhelm were the recipients of the Dr. Doris Howell Leadership Awards.
