Apprenticeships under BDA are gaining momentum...

Land Drilling NVQ Ltd recently concluded two informative modules - Drilling and Grouting (Module 5) and Site Management (Module 6) - from 10 to 13 February. The training sessions, held without any advertisements, received positive feedback from the seven apprentice candidates who attended.

During the Drilling and Grouting module, the apprentices visited a working site organised by Sirius to observe the grouting process and ask questions. This hands-on experience was particularly beneficial, helping candidates gain a better understanding of the process.

The course covered essential topics such as the purposes of grouts, mixes, dangers involved, and types of rigs used. It also taught candidates about running a site, including borehole layout, ordering, certification for equipment, and RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement).

In addition to technical knowledge, the training also focused on practical skills like organising materials, coping with responsibility, and setting up a site safely. The apprentices demonstrated eagerness to learn more for their careers, actively participating in the program by asking questions.

The feedback from the candidates emphasised the usefulness of the site visit in their learning process. They appreciated that the objectives of the courses were well-explained and that the training provided a good broad knowledge of grouting.

As part of their initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of drillers within the industry, Land Drilling NVQ Ltd offered free gym passes to all attendees.

The two courses were conducted by teachers whose identities are not publicly available. Despite this, the quality of instruction and the valuable insights gained were highly praised by the candidates.

The training was completed with seven apprentice candidates from BDA member companies Soil Engineering, WJ Groundwater, Arcadis, and BAM Ritchies. Land Drilling NVQ Ltd has shown a commitment to providing high-quality training and fostering the growth of the next generation of drillers and site managers within the industry.
