Apprenticeship Program: Azubi Academy
The BDS AZUBIAKADEMIE Ingolstadt, a training initiative based in Ingolstadt, Germany, is set to begin its second round in November 2025. This project, a joint venture between IFG Ingolstadt and the German Association of Self-Employed Persons (BDS), aims to further qualify young professionals beyond the content of vocational school [1].
The active co-design of workshop contents ensures topics are tailored to the needs of participating companies and trainees. Over the course of 4 to 5 engaging workshops, trainees will acquire soft skills such as communication, self-organization, and mindset in practical half-day sessions [1]. A separate workshop for trainers is also offered.
For training companies, benefits likely include access to well-prepared trainees who have gained up-to-date skills and practical knowledge through the workshops, which can improve workforce quality and readiness. The project provides low-threshold further training opportunities for trainees without significant financial effort for training companies [2].
For trainees, the program offers practical workshops that are guaranteed to be engaging and directly useful in their vocational training. These workshops support both their career growth and personal development. The acquisition of these skills not only makes participants more confident in their daily work but also promotes their personal development [1].
The establishment of an inter-company network for trainees offers new perspectives and strengthens a sense of community. This network is expected to foster mutual learning and digital competence, with potential innovative formats like reverse mentoring, where juniors coach seniors, being considered [1][2].
Interested companies can still register for the new round until September 30, 2025. Further information and the possibility to register can be found at www.ingolstadt.business/azubi-akademie/press-office/City of Ingolstadt.
The successful pilot year of BDS AZUBIAKADEMIE Ingolstadt in 2024/25 paved the way for this continuation of the project [1]. It was initiated as part of IFG Ingolstadt's skills shortage measures catalog [3].
