Agricultural Technical School Opens in Hohenlohe

In a press release issued on February 2, 2023, State Secretary Sabine Kurtz announced the further development of agricultural vocational schools in Baden-Württemberg. One of the central locations for this development is the Academy for Agricultural and Household Management in Kupferzell.

The Academy, which is already one of the three key locations for agricultural vocational schools in the region, has now established the External: Vocational Training for Agricultural Technician. This new course is designed to future-proof the agricultural vocational schools and ensure high-quality further training for agriculture in the long term.

The Agricultural Technician course, organised in full-time mode over two years, covers a wide range of subjects including business, production-related competencies, vocational English, mathematics, and operational communication. Upon successful completion, students will have a variety of career opportunities, such as running their own agricultural businesses, pursuing careers in consulting, research, agricultural trade, contract farming, associations, or administration.

The first class of Agricultural Technicians started at the Academy on September 15, 2022. However, the press release does not provide details about the number of students or faculty at the new locations.

In addition to Kupferzell, the cabinet decision of July 2022 identified the External: Agricultural Education Center Emmendingen and the Cluster Oberschwaben with locations in Sigmaringen, Biberach, and Ravensburg as future-oriented locations for vocational training. The press release does not mention the duration or structure of the training programs at these new locations, nor does it provide information about specific courses or career opportunities offered there.

The Ministry of Food, Rural Areas, and Consumer Protection is involved in the development of agricultural vocational schools. The press release falls under the categories of Education and Science, Further Training, and Training.

The press release does not mention any specific goals or objectives for the new locations in the development of agricultural vocational schools. It is clear, however, that the aim is to provide high-quality education and training to students interested in a career in agriculture.

Before the launch of the Agricultural Technician course, the academy in Kupferzell offered the External: Agricultural Manager and External: Master of Agriculture courses in the classic winter school format. With the introduction of the Agricultural Technician in full-time mode, the school's portfolio is further expanded.

The press release does not specify the name of the head of the training center for agriculture and home economics in Kupferzell. Despite this, the development of agricultural vocational schools in Baden-Württemberg is set to continue, ensuring a bright future for agriculture in the region.
