Advocates for PAN Uphold University Education as Primarily Unrestricted and Propose Enhancement

In a session with the Academic Association of the University of Lisbon (AAUL) at the Caleidoscope building, Inês de Sousa Real advocated for a reduction in tuition fees and even suggested they should lean towards being free, all while maintaining the quality of higher education and exploring new funding sources.

The PAN representative also raised concerns about the barriers faced by students who opt to join family tax declarations in relating to IRS Youth. She lamented that education hasn't been a significant focus during the election period.

Sousa Real argued that the present scholarship values are barely enough to cover a student's expenses, particularly those who relocate, and called for an increase and relaxation of access requirements for this aid.

During the campaign, she stated that many politicians make grand promises but fail to follow through when in power. PAN aims to ensure the voice of young people is heard and their concerns are addressed in parliament.

Following the meeting with AAUL, Sousa Real described the gathering as "very promising," promising to address student concerns to prevent any backsliding in student demands after receiving the University of Lisbon's students' charter.
