2degrees Launches SupportHER Campaign to Empower Girls in Sport
Telecommunications company 2degrees has launched a campaign, SupportHER, to empower girls in sport. The initiative, part of 2degrees' broader programme for women's sport, aims to keep girls in the game and drive social change.
The campaign, developed in collaboration with TBWANZ and Eleven PR, features a limited-edition collection of hoodies and tees designed by Bonnie Brown and sports psychologist Dom Vettise. Each design carries a psychological message, such as 'Play Brave' and 'Play Like You', to encourage self-belief and positive sideline support.
Shane Bradnick, Chief Creative Officer at TBWANZ, sees the campaign as an example of creativity driving social change. Catherine Harris, CEO of TBWANZ, emphasizes the collaborative nature of the campaign and its potential for driving change. Zac Summers, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at 2degrees, highlights the campaign's goal to keep girls in sport and prevent loss of confidence and opportunity. The campaign launched at Auckland's Ponsonby Rugby Club and will continue with pop-up activations nationwide.
The SupportHER campaign, part of 2degrees' Fighting for Fair mission, addresses the issue of girls dropping out of sport at nearly twice the rate of boys in New Zealand. By providing visible support, grassroots investment, and positive messaging, the campaign aims to empower girls and keep them involved in sport.
